Lumen Media is an Austin-based video production and photography company that caters specifically to Texas nonprofits. They’re also one of thirty featured vendors at next week’s 2013 Texas Nonprofit Summit.
The company will offer visual storytelling solutions to more than 700 convention attendees looking for engaging fundraising options that visually and emotionally connect with donors, volunteers and potential members.
Alyson Landry, the founder of the company, invites nonprofit professionals to participate in the process of storytelling through Lumen’s peer-voting photobooth. Professionals at the Summit will get the chance to engage their audience with their personal story through one photograph. Circulated via Lumen’s social media channels, the company will choose the most creative story told. That professional’s nonprofit will win a video production bringing their organization’s story to life.
Lumen Media focuses on the nonprofit community because Landry says she “believes in the power of people’s stories to convey hope, love and acceptance so our community can reach its highest potential.” Eager about the future of digital storytelling she also says, “Video has become a commonplace medium that reaches millions each day, and is trending as a valuable tool for nonprofits. This gives the opportunity for nonprofits to stay ahead of the curve, and reach the masses to support their mission.”
In the fall, Landry will launch a YouTube channel for nonprofit professionals to demonstrate the ins and outs of storytelling, DIY productions for small nonprofits and allowing professionals to tell their own stories about branding, fundraising and their organization’s success. She says, “The purpose is to collaborate, learn and innovate so we can better our communities.”
Turning a year old in September, Lumen Media has served several nonprofits in the Austin area including Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Central Texas, the Amala Foundation and OutYouth with video production and photography.
Lights. Camera. Help. is looking forward to working with Lumen Media on an up coming project. That’s super top secret for now, but stay tuned for much more from them!
