Friday’s screening from 6:30pm-9:30pm includes microdocs, short films, and a feature length film. Friday’s feature length film is When I Rise, a documentary about Barbara Smith Conrad, a gifted University of Texas music student who finds herself at the epicenter of racial controversy, struggling against the odds and ultimately ascending to the heights of international opera. Friday’s screening will also feature a conversation with the film’s director, Mat Hames.

Tickets and badges are on sale NOW! $75 /badge OR $25/night and $20 for the closing party.

Mat Hames, from right here in Austin, will tell us about directing his film, When I Rise, on the second night of the festival.
