Each year, SafePlace, an organization that works to end sexual and domestic violence through safety, healing, prevention and social change, hosts a celebration during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The SafePlace Celebration features a keynote speaker who generates empowerment by speaking up against all types of violence and encouraging their supporters to be courageous citizens.

This year SafePlace presents the 2011 Celebration Film Screening of Erin Brockovich and Special Q&A with the real Ms. Brockovich. The event will be held Thursday, October 20 at 7 p.m. at the South Lamar Alamo Drafthouse in Austin.

On Friday, October 21 at 11:30 a.m. at the Austin Convention Center, Ms. Brockovich will also share her message “Take It From Me,” discussing how one person can make a difference.

Tickets are currently on sale for both events but space is limited so make sure you get yours before they are gone! All proceeds go to benefit the programs and services provided by SafePlace.

Note: One of our new Board members Christina Martell is a SafePlace employee. Just one more reason to be a SafePlace supporter!
