Each year, we put the spotlight on nonprofit and cause-driven films by hosting the world's first film festival dedicated entirely to the films-for-a-cause genre.

Nonprofits, grassroots organizations, film makers and enthusiasts get together to celebrate this unique and important art form.

Lights. Camera. Help. donates all of the festival's proceeds to the winners. Learn more.

The Smart Phone and Human Rights

In the past year we have expanded our idea of what actually makes a person a journalist.  Protests in the Middle East, Europe, and the United States have driven home the point that anyone with a camera phone can capture an event and share it with the wider world, and that ill thought out sharing can be extremely harmful.  In this article from The Economist the unnamed author points out several of the pros and cons of this type of journalistic proliferation.  It also highlights the awesome work being done by nonprofits like Witness, which teaches activists in the field to not only capture footage, but to capture useful footage.  I don't want to just summarize the article, but it's a fascinating read.

P.S. Just a reminder that our screening Light is next week, and it is going to be an illuminating experience.  You should all go, I promise it will be a great time.
