We partner 10 local nonprofits with 10 amazing film makers and give them one week to make a short impact film telling each nonprofit’s story. The resulting films will be screened at The Alamo Drafthouse on South Lamar, usually to a sell-out crowd. 

Once the films are screened, we award a Judge’s Choice and a People’s Choice to two very deserving winners.

Nonprofit applications are now open!

Nonprofits of all size, budget, and manner are encouraged to apply for the Winter 2018 Aaron Bramley Film Frenzy. Applications are open until Monday, October 16, 2017. The ten winners chosen to make a film will be announced on Friday, October 20, 2017. Please read the Film Frenzy Team Rules and FAQ for all the details.

Lights. Camera. Help. is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to connecting nonprofits and filmmakers to use film and video to multiply and amplify their storytelling.

One of our most important programs is the Aaron Bramley Film Frenzy that supports the creation of cause-driven films for 10 local nonprofit organizations. Lights. Camera. Help. will lead this effort by bringing together a coalition of 10 filmmaking teams who know how to work with nonprofit organizations to tell their story the right way and by spearheading a fundraising campaign to finance the creation of the films.

Nonprofits meet their filmmaking team at a kick-off event and then the filmmakers and nonprofit have one week to produce a film that is 10 minutes or less in length and works to support the mission of the nonprofit. When the week is over, Lights. Camera. Help. hosts a screening event and competition to show off the films created through the Aaron Bramley Film Frenzy.

The Aaron Bramley Film Frenzy uses a crowdsourced community funding model to support the creation of 10 cause-driven films that tell the story of 10 local nonprofit organizations.  Lights. Camera. Help. leads this effort by:

  • Collecting a coalition of 10 filmmaking teams.
  • Hosting a nonprofit application process.
  • Initiating a fundraising campaign to raise money for the creation of the films.
  • Holding a meet and greet happy-hour where nonprofits meet their filmmaking team.
  • Putting on a screening event and competition to show off the films created through the process.

This event is a win-win-win event for filmmakers, nonprofits and the community.  Here’s how.

For filmmakers:

  • Be part of the selection process to decide which organizations you will support.
  • Create a film that works to make the world, or at least a small part of it, a better place.

For nonprofits:

  • Get a great new film that can support your organization for years to come.
  • What else can we add?

For the community:

  • Be a producer of your very own film.
  • Know that you are working to support both the filmmaking and the nonprofit community.
