Well over a decade after one of the most brutal conflicts in the hemisphere, the ex‐refugees of the El Salvadoran civil war still face substantial social and environmental challenges. With the partnership of an organization looking for local‐born solutions to these problems, the community has been able to pull itself together and take ownership over these issues and the necessary solutions. If ever proof was needed that development work could be locally‐driven and sustainable, this is it.
